Liebig Original yerba was created by the Colonia Liebig cooperative on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its foundation (1926). Colonia Liebig was created in 1926 by mainly German emigrants and also produces the Playadito brand.

Liebig Original is made from leaves harvested only in winter when they are fully ripe. Its long maturation period of 18 months and its low content of ground leaves make it a mild and high quality yerba.
